I am a beginner as well, although I played violin many years ago. Just wanted to let you know how great your lessons truly are. I always look at several different versions and yours are always the best. One selfish question: any way you could make an easier version of Somewhere Beyond the Sea? Much thanks and keep putting your work out – you help a lot of people!
Hi Alan,
I am a newbie although I have been trying to play guitar for the last 3-4 years…seems like I don’t put enough time into it! I’ve been trying to find a beautiful version of this song and easy way to play it and I have found it!! Thanks so much and I will continue to support you in the future! Great site!!
To play Em, you press strings 4 and 5
On the video, I don’t see you pluck strings 4 and 4 when you play Em.
So, what the use of forming Em with your fingers? You could as well leave all strings open.
See for example @ from 2:42
I see the following sequence:
T 6th string,
I 3rd string,
M 2nd string,
I 3rd string,
M 2nd string,
R 1st string,
M 2nd string
Hi Leon, well spotted 🙂 Fretting the Em is just force of habit on my part from when I used to strum the song, it makes no difference to the sound of the song when fingerpicked whether you fret the strings or not. Sorry for any confusion, best wishes – Alan 🙂
I love the way you setup these tutorials. You don’t do much talking, you show the strum/pick patterns as well as the chords used and that helps me a lot. I was wandering if you could do a fingerpick style of some old gospel songs like “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” and maybe some others.
Alan, this site is amazing and the quality of videos are just exceptional… I will be making a Contribution to your work…… surely worth it….. Wondering how I had not come across your work much before.
Just a question…. do you have any more such Christian Hymns in the offering…
Loving rendering of this classic Amazing Grace.
Hi Rajesh and thank you for your kind words. I am sorry, I have not had the time to create a tab for this (I do not use them myself), just a songsheet. All the best.

Hi there.
Thank you for your kind words, as for your request; I will see what I can do next year.
Merry Christmas.
Alan 🙂
Hi Alan.
I am a beginner. It is really a blessing to visit your site and learn from your tutorials.
I am wondering if you have tab for this song.
Thank you,
Rajesh

One of my old time favorites. Great Job. It always amazes me how simple melodies can have such a powerful affect on all of us.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate it 🙂
Your tutorials are great and easy to follow for a beginner like me. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Richard.
All the best.
