Song Requests

Hi there!

If you would like to make a video request you can do so here. I cannot promise to create one but I will look into it. In order to fulfill a request I need to:

  1. Like the song.
  2. Be able to sing it.
  3. Be able to technically create a video for it.

Please do not be offended if I am unable to fulfill your request, I get about 50 a week so can’t possibly create them all.

Each video takes between 6 – 8 hours to produce and all the work I do is voluntary, including running this website, so please consider making a donation, however small (they all add up) via the PayPal or gofundme links below.

Thank you for your support.
Best wishes.
Alan (Guitar Tutor Man).

Personnaly, I would like to learn the song “Cast No Shadow” from Oasis. A video from you could certainly help me to learn this song πŸ™‚

For two days, this song lives in my head… And especially the acoustic version played by Noel Gallagher and Gem in the Melbourne Chapel. Anyway, thanks a lot !

  42. Joshua Garcia says:

Hello Alan, can you make a song lesson for Till there was you by The Beatles

  43. David Seay says:

Not a request. Was very excited to see your tutorial for Everbody Hurts but am confused. I work with many of your tutorials and the tuning is correct on all of them except this new one. It seems you are a half step off. I’ve confirmed the tune of my Ovation and have check against your other tutorials and this is the only one that appears to be off. Is this deliberate? Am I missing something?

Thanks and keep up the GREAT work you are doing!

    • alan says:

Hi Dave, yes I have detuned by a half step on this to make it easier for the vocals though I have done this on quite a few other tutorials such as; Its a Heartache, Eleanor Rigby and Stand By Me to name but a few. Detuning opens up loads more opportunities for tutorial creation by allowing me to sing songs that ordinarily I would not feel comfortable with. Hope this clears it up.
      Alan πŸ™‚

      • David Seay says:

I was just working off your video on YouTube but I see you tell us about the detuning on your Song Sheet page. I’ll check there from now on before making any assumptions.

  44. David Seay says:

    Here are 4 requests…

You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away – Beatles
My My, Hey Hey – Neil Young
    Old Man – Neil Young

These are covered by other people but I find you format much more helpful!

    Hi Alan.
First let me thank you for all your work. I’m in my late forties and had never played before. You have made it so easy with this videos! In a few months with a lot of practice it will be second nature! I’m practicing “My Way” and in a couple of weeks I can follow the song. Could you make Crosby Stills Nash “Southern Cross” Thanks again

  100. Mike says:

Hi Alan, your video tutorials are most practical than those I have seen, no distracting
talk, just straight to the point and very illustrative. I wonder if you can do a video on
Rod Steward’s Maggie May, Elvis’ Don’t Be Cruel, Wooden Heart,Teddy Bear. I have
seen and subscribe to another site but the materials/videos are not illustrative to teach
the swing style and boogie woogie strum patterns of Don’t Be Cruel.
My 2 other songs that I wish to learn- Jamacan Farewll (calypso strumming) and I Celebrate My Love Tonite.
Thank you in advance and looking forward to your videos.

hi I am looking for a version of lately by stevie wonder there are chords out there but they never continue to the bridge at the end, it is very high at the end for vocals so I think no one goes that for, I can sing the whole song in original key, so if there is any chance you could even look at the chords and see what they are for the bridge, I would love you to sing it but very high unless you do it in a different key, love the site, regards steven.

  133. Thomasena Fogleman says:

    Lana Del Rey continues to smolder. The “Born To Die” chanteuse just released a new music video in pre-release of a much anticipated double album, this one called “Bel Air” which has fans guessing at her latest inspirations. Alt-pop singer Sky Ferreira re-emerged at the end of 2012 with the Ghost EP to signal a new direction in her career. She teamed up with indie producers Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid on ‘Everything is Embarrassing,’ a gloomy dance ballad about love gone awry. ‘Maybe your current products let me be your lover / Maybe if you tried then I would not bother,’ she solemnly sings. Ferreira’s echoed vocals soar over the song’s celestial production, backed with hard-hitting drum machine and light piano. Embarrassment had never sounded so beautiful.”‘..;

  139. Hi Alan,

Fantastic resource and I will be making a donation.

    Some ideas for songs:

Give a little bit – roger hodgson
Fire and rain – James Taylor
    Pleasure – Ian Northcott

You may not heard of that last one but its a song I wrote to help me with my socks and Chocs for the homeless event (all explained on the website but no money changes hands at all – it’s just me and some mates collecting socks and chocks then delivering them on Christmas Day to homeless people in thevWest Midlands).

Pleasure is a song to help promote that cause and if you can do a version for me and load it on to You Tube that would be amazing.

Keep up the good work and thank you so much.

  140. Kristen says:

I can’t find tabs anywhere. again no pressure, just let me know.

  149. Robert Westerling says:

I know this isΒ΄nt a request. Made a donation today, thanx for your work on this site.
one thing you could add to the song sheets is the
strumming pattern. 50+ and just been playing/learning for a year now
Play a 30 year old yamaha 12 string that i think still can hang with the best,
one day IΒ΄ll be the guitarist she deserves as even now she makes me sound better than I really am.

    • alan says:

Hi Robert, and thanks for your donation – your generosity is greatly appreciated. I can add the main strumming pattern to some songsheets however many songs I play have a variable strumming pattern that would be too complex to represent graphically in any other way than I already do in the videos. I will give it serious consideration for any new songsheets I create (where appropriate). It is nice to play with an old guitar, I use a six string Pilgrim for some of my videos (Blackbird for example) that I bought in 1983; it still sounds great. Best wishes for your continued guitar enjoyment and sincere thanks once again for your support.

Hi Rob, I have not removed it, it is still there but I had to split the 1970s and 1960s tutorial pages into 2 because of technical issues. That one is now on “more 1970s” (just slide your mouse across on the tutorials Drop-down menu when you get to 1970s). It is also available on the “Songsheets” page or drop-down menu πŸ™‚

If you don’t want to do it, it’s fine. I just need to know if I have to find other ways to get the chords. The thing is I have found absolutely no tutorial on it which is why I came here. I noticed that one other person requested to so at least I’m not alone. Again you don’t have to obviously, I just need to know though, I can wait longer for a tutorial. Here is the link, I love this song and the sound which is another reason I wanted you to do it because it would sound really neat with your voice because of your awesome accent.

  267. Chris says:

Hi, before i make a request, please just let me say that last year me and an uncle of mine picked up the guitar for the first time and have been bouncing off each other ever since, but we were not making any substantial progress until we stumbled upon your site, and as such our/my progress and playlist has gone through the roof!

hi Alan i found your site by chance and im so glad i did….its so true about what you said about there being tonnes of guitar lessons on you tube and its overwhelming. I think your doing a great job and your putting a lot of work in. I totally get it that you must get a lot of requests. Ive not totally checked out your site but Leonard Cohens music is a favourite (not sure if uve covered him) i will look…theres this one song i heard by chance, i didnt even know the artist at the time but the songs “Winter in America”, by Doug Ashdown, It had a very distinctive catchy sound, a bit like “forever autumn”, it may not be of interest but its worth a listen, I appreciate that you work on donations, im in a bit of a bad place now, but when im on my uppers id gladly donate whatever i could….all the best mate and thanks…ian

I love your work! You’ve helped me with a few I songs and I especially liked “hallelujah”. I can’t find anything on the song “All I ever wanted” by The Airborne Toxic Event. They’re a great band and super talented and I would love to learn some of their stuff. I know you’ll appreciate their work. Thanks a million!
