Welcome to Guitar Tutor Man’s Official Website;
here’s two of my latest tutorials:
Yellow Submarine – The Beatles
Help Me Make It Through The Night – Kriss Kristofferson
As you know, the internet is massive so trying to find good resources can be a real pain. As a teacher and keen guitarist I have spent hours scouring YouTube etc. for good quality guitar tutorials only to find that many are simply not up to the task. That’s why I decided to create this site. All the videos here are ones that I have created or would use myself. If you are studying Rockschool or Trinity Guildhall guitar grades then checkout the videos under those headings, they may be helpful to you.
For general interest I have also included examples of covers and original guitar based music from all over the world. Obviously, this is by no means a definitive selection. If you know of any awesome tutorial or original guitar based music authors that I have not showcased here then why not contact me so I can add them to this site?
Please check out my Music Shop (an extension of Amazon) where anything you buy provides me with a small commission to aid in the expansion of this site.
If you have found this site useful please consider making a small donation toward its continued upkeep.
Thanks for your support (Alan Robinson – Site Author).
Hey Allan,
Your web site also looks really great and a great collection of videos.
For sure I will be using this a lot!!!
Thank you so much for all your dedication and work, it is very much appreciated!
I was just browsing your site. It’s really cool.
I’m helping to put a guitar website together and was wondering if I could get a link from your site?
It’s a pretty new site and we’re working hard to put some good content on there. I was hoping you could help us out by linking to us.
the website is http://www.onlineguitarbooks.com
If not, that’s cool!
We can put a link back to your site too.
Keep up the good work.
I checked out your site and what you are doing looks really positive.
The explanations of chord theory etc. are well pitched for beginners and the site layout looks professional.
My site is also new (I created it in October this year) so I could also do with a bit of help marketing it.
Consequently I would be more than happy to link to you and would appreciate a link in return.
All the best with your efforts.
Cheers
Alan
There’s a dead video link on the beginner’s page. It’s the last video about “making barre cords”.
I’m loving what I’ve seen on the site so far! You’ve done a great job putting these resources together.
I was looking for the strum pattern for my favorite song as the first song I wanted to learn to play and found your video! Your’s is by far the best tutorial I’ve stumbled upon.
As a beginner, I appreciate your time and effort and wanted to say thank you!
Veronica
Hi there Veronica!
Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it, and thanks for pointing out the dead link, I will add a new Barre chord tutorial in its place.
Best wishes with you playing.
Cheers.
Alan.
Hi there!
Yes I do accept requests, though I cannot promise to fulfill them (it depends if I a: like the song and B: can sing it. Each video takes about 6 hours to produce so I have to be engaged with the material.
Thanks for your interest.
Best wishes.
Alan.
hi Alan, haveing played the guitar in all its forms, i have to say that you have a great website, and have used some of your chords and chord changes in a lot of music i play,
great site, all the best, Tony…
Hi Allan! you’ve got the best guitar tutorial in Youtube. I’m not good in guitar but your video inspire me to learn more. I wonder if you could play and post the video of the song “It’s about time” by Elton John, it would be great. Keep it up bro! Thanks and more power to you!
Hi Alan would it be possible for a tutorial on 10cc’s. Dreadlock holiday.”". Struggling with the rhythm also Noel gallaghers latest solo stuff…what alive etc. Top site top tutorials. Cheers. Shaun
Hi Bob.
Thanks for your support, I am glad my site is helping you. I have been teaching Shotokai Karate for about 24 years but focus on mostly teaching youngsters now.
Cheers.
Alan.
Hi Alan …I think you are the best guitar teacher on the web it’s so easy to learn with your way of teaching.
For sure I will encourage you.
Thank you very much
Hi Alan! I have a question: is it possible to play that “Time” Pink Floyd song in a Classic Guitar? I want to learn how to play it, but I wanted to know first if I can play it on a Classic, cuz I don’t have an Acoustic. Thanks!
Gabriel
Hi there!
In my opinion, if you can play it on a normal acoustic then you can play it on a classical, it will just have a different feel to it.
Cheers.
Alan.
Thanks a lot Alan! I practiced it a lot thanks to that video you posted on how to play Time, I can now play it well. Thanks very much to you, and I know it’s a little late for me to say this, but Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Blessings and Cheers,
Gabriel
PS: I was wondering could make a tutorial video for “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” (The Beatles)? I’m having a hard time trying to find videos for that song, and your videos have so far been the best tutorials in YouTube, and I’m sure many people including me would be grateful if you could make one…
Thanks for these guitar lessons Alan, simple and straight forward and easy to follow which makes a change…they are great.
One drawback though, are you going to learn us how to sing too because i cant carry a tune to save my life…. ( I wish)
Hi Steve.
Thanks for your support, Much appreciated. I’m of the opinion that if you enjoy singing it doesn’t matter what you sound like.
Merry Christmas.
Alan.
Hey Alan
Thank you so much for this nice page. I am new on the guitar. So I was wondering if it is possible to use the same tabs etc. on classical guitar if the tutorial is meant to be on a acoustic? And if it is possible to put some tutorials for some songs to 30 Seconds to Mars… Thanks
Mariam
Hi Mariam.
Yes all tabs for standard acoustic can be used with classical, you will just get a different feel (sound and mood) from your guitar.
I will look into your request.
Merry Christmas.
Alan.
Hello Alan,
I’m french (sorry for my english) i’m soon feefteen years old and I’m learning English and guitar together since two years, so your site is a tresor for me.
My favorite group is Pink Floyd, so I’m very happy to find a lot of songs from them.
Thank you for your work and I wish you a Happy New Year
Hallo from Kovin, Serbia. Happy New Year Alan. You are so great guitar teacher. One of my favourite guitarist is Eric Clapton. The accoustic version of Can’t find my way home, is one of my favoutite songs. Are you open to teach us that stuff in some time ?
hello, super the site much of variety and also very well done.
I wondered whether you had steamroller blues version Elvis Presley because I adore this song. thank you.
Alan.
Hiya Alan,.. Just wanted to say,ive been playing guitar for a fair few years now and have used the net for tabs and video lessons for around 5 years now. In that time ive found some things fairly useful, and others not so! I stumbled on2 your site last night..(late..) and found myself transfixed with wot can only be described as perfectly formed lessons … Loads of them! In such a great format. Clear and concise and perfectly executed … With the vocals too! It was so pleasing that sum1 had taken the time to deliver a service that ticks all the right boxes! All i can really add is a big THANK YOU! really. You have now become my virtual jam buddy;) I will be subscribing, and try to support you the best i can. I just lost my job so cannot donate just yet,but wen i can i will. Looks like im pretty much outta space, so thanks again.. You’ve done something long overdue but was definately worth the wait. With your help i can now hone my busking skills to a higher level. Good job man!
Great site, and you are a good guitar player, and the singing isn’t that bad! Better than me. What is the software that creates the chords and strumming patterns? Something of your own??
Keep up the good work for us beginners.
Hi there.
Cheers for your kind words.
All the graphics are created with Adobe Photoshop and are added to the video frame by frame using Adobe Premiere Elements.
All the best.
Alan.
I have been trying to do an acoustic version of relax. Frankie goes to Hollywood . There are a couple of versions on utube but can’t work out what they are doing. So, I thought I would ask you if you could do a version? Cheeky, I know, but if you don’t ask bla bla bla. Anyway hope you can help as I think it would be great to do acoustic version of a classic song . Anyhow, thanks for all your hard work and great vids, yum already a star in my book. Cheers, Shaun
Hey Allan,
I am listening these days unplugged Clapton’s album from ’92. Tears in heaven, Layla, Signs etc. are great songs, but I’m focus on Lonely stranger, great tune, and I’ll be proud if someday learn it. Are you maybe interesting to teach us in the future ? I know you like Eric and I’m sure that you like Lonely stranger.Thank you in front and cheers !

Krystyna
What can i say, amazing site. You really are collecting good videos and yours are good too. What is good is that you also have strumming patterns and of course chord diagrams. Nice! I am regular visitor now and i will for sure donate too!
Great site, Alan and absolutely sterling job on the variety of music.
The biggest kick I got was that my guitar was tuned to the same tone level ?? So it makes for great singalong (if that makes any sense)
Cheers
I gotta tell you that I just stumbled upon your website when I was looking for some help with Pink Floyd’s Time. I REALLY like your site’s style and construction. You’ve done a fabulous job here!
I truly appreciate this site and will recommend it to many of my friends.
I like how you pop up the chord changes in the video and really like the song sheets you provide that go with your clips.
Very thorough, very consistent, very clean, very VERY good.
Hi Alan,
I’m a beginner in Taiwan. Just want to say thank you so much for all your awesome videos!!! Your website is definitely the best tutorial website on earth!!!
Best wishes
Aaron
A question for you, if you don’t mind. I am struggling using fingers 1,2,3 for the open A chord – not enough room to get all of them close enough to the fret. If I switch to 2,3,4 am I going to regret it later?
Hi Peter.
I think you should persevere with the 123 position so it leaves your little finger free to easily create the Asus4 and A7 chords from that position.
Cheers.
Alan.
Alan, just stumbled onto your You Tube video and then your website. My friend, you have a fine voice. I truly enjoyed listening to you sing “Stand By Me”. I think I will be giving your site a try and see if I can pick a few things up. I will be starting with “Stand By Me” and then see what else we can learn from you.
Thanks so much for taking the time to put this all together.
Just wanted to say “Thank You!” for all the awesome tutorials you’ve put up, I’ve only been playing for about 7 months now and your videos have helped elevate my playing ability immeasurably. Keep doing what your doing my man.
If I could make a tutorial request for you to consider, i would love to see “little black submarines” by “The Black Keys”
Hi Alan great site just found you via youtube , i been learning bad moon rising going well , your a good teacher like the slow lesson at the end most helpful.

Top site Alan. Thanks a lot. loads of good tunes and no bull sh…
Attacked Pink Floyd and Bessie Smith at the weekend back tomorrow (bank holiday Tuesday in France) for more top tunes. Its cool that you put stuff like the Bessie Smith lesson on your site. Its not so clear and easy to follow, as I am a beginer, but it’s cool. And as it’s linked to you tube. I got distracted and disapear off to watch Claptons version . I have loved that song for ages and never knew who it was by. And tears in heaven makes me want to cry. So much music so little time. I feel motivated, good work. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Alan, give this one a spin.
Hard to explain but very helpful when trying to piece chords together that you just can’t find. Snoop around – there’s a few different loooks to it. I left Still The Same as a link but you can navigate from there http://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/bob-seger-still-the-same-guitar-tab-s18359t0
Alan,
You are a wonderful person Mate… Thanks a lot.
Nobody has ever done this type stuff assisting people on the net. … Cannot thank you enough…We are so greatful…
I don’t even know where to begin. I’m so happy that I found a website that’s going to be extremely helpful. Most the songs that I would to learn are all ready up here or on youtube. I was wondering if you do song suggestions? If not, no worries. Thank you so much for awesome quality videos, clear sounds, and supporting graphics to teaches you to learn how to play the song the way it was meant to be played. Again, thank you so much! Please keep up the amazing work!
Hi there.
Thank you for your kind words, I do appreciate your support.
I do accept song suggestions, I can’t promise to create a video but I will look into any request you make.
Cheers.
Alan.
Hi, I have a beginners songs section but no specific courses. The best advice I can give you is to practice a little every day and try and make it varied; don’t stick to one song until you get frustrated, work on a few at a time in rotation and spend a few minutes a day changing from one chord to another at different speeds, it worked for me.
Best wishes.
Alan
Sir Allan, i want to request a song “dust in the wind (plucking)” and Annie’s Song (plucking) if possible i really like all your guitar tutorials its awesome and easy to learn thank you! i learned a lot
Wow!!! it’s great. very helpful. it helps me a lot playing guitar. I thought its hard to learn but when i saw your tutorial I was amazed.. I can play guitar. Please keep up the amazing work!
I cannot thank you enough for your videos, easy to follow and understand even for a novice like me! Been looking for “If I had a Hammer” on the net its a old favourite showing my age a bit i know, but its hard to find a good tutorial for this. I know its a bit low brow for you but if you ever had a few moments i am sure you would make a lot of people very happy.
Hi Alan,
I’am a begginer and your site is very helpful. Can you add your site if there are songs as easy as ‘Songbird’ and -I know it’s not easy- ‘Well Respected Man’ (Kinks). Thanks for your help.
So, some friends and I get together and jam. We usually have a couple of ringers in the group, guys who can really play; they help us amateurs out by playing the fat chords and harmonies to make us sound good.
Anyway, we have a game that we play; it goes like this: Pick a song title, an artist, and a genre. Say, Penny Lane, Frank Sinatra, and reggae. The object is to play Penny Lane like Frank Sinatra would sing it in a reggae style. Someone will get hot and nail it. He can then change any one of the three choices. Say change the title to Canon in D. It passes to the next person who pegs the jam. A boatload of fun.
I can dig this site because of its real time help for us musical simpletons. Thanks man. Stay cool.
Hi Allan
Terrific website! Would there be any chance of you showing us some Michael Nesmith stuff (I’m a huge fan of his) especially songs from the ‘Pretty MuchYour Standard Ranch Stash’ Album. ‘Winonah’ in particular and ‘Release’ (I’ve been struggling to work out the chords for them for years) Thanks Allan, good luck with the website.
Hi Alan,
Your website has made it very easy for me to play songs which I have not been able to play on my own. I love the idea of actually seeing the notes being displayed as you play; this ideas has greatly assisted me in not only learning new chords but also playing new songs as well. I am now enthusiastic about playing my guitar again. Thank you so much, Alan for your great tutorials.
Eugene

Hi, I do not play much fingerstyle guitar (I play to sing) but I have a few suitable such as “I Don’t Want To Put A Hold On You” and “Tears In Heaven”; more to come.
Thanks for using my site
Hi Alan,
This is Edwin from Africa(Uganda), am a 24 yr old beginner guitar player. I bumped into your video on You tube while searching for Annie’s song tutorial then followed you here. I feel drawn to your videos because of their simplicity and this site will be helpful to me . Am so grateful for the effort you put in trying to help scores of folks over the world.Your song tutorial videos have given me more confidence in playing and I love those old classics(70′s, 80′s, 90′s ); I know you receive numerous requests but may you please look into for once in my life by Stevie Wonder or any other Stevie classic, if you could.I just wanna wish you all the best in what ever you do and may God pour his lavish favour in your life.
Hi Alan – I am relearning guitar after many years of not playing. I am learning I Can See Clearly Now for a memorial service – and I came across your version which I like better than the original because I can’t sing in the key of D which is what the original song calls for. However, at the tail end of the bridge I guess, there there are some chords missing – the word “Skies” is dragged out really long – in the original key the chord sequence is, after “skies” C#m G C#m G Bm A In your version you don’t include that part. I’m wondering if you might be able to provide the transposition for that part as I’m stuck and can’t figure it out? I would be so appreciative – I am not sure how you transposed it into the key you did – I’m very rusty with my skills. Thanks if you are able to help.
Slt Alan,
Hi Alan,
I am sure you are tired of hearing this by now but, GREAT SITE!!! I took classes as a kid, it never really took, but always wanted to play and so I started up again in Dec, I have been struggelling ever since. About a month after I found your site I can now play 3 songs all ready! I can not thank you enough!! I have told friends also trying to learn about your site and they also think it’s GREAT.
THANK YOU!!!!
PS. if possible can you please do ‘The Gambler’ I just love that song.
Thanks again.
Alan,
I was fortunate enough to come across your Youtube tutorial for ” Sing ” by Travis last week. I am truly amazed at how well your teaching method works for me. I have played for years but never mastered playing complete songs. Your tutorials have given me a eureka moment and new life. Thank you for the gift of music. You will hear from me again in some positive way… I have three request if they work for you musically. If you do not know the bands then you can broaden your horizons. 1. Crimson and Clover – Tommy James 2. Amanda – Boston 3. Fell in Love without You (Acoustic Version) – Motion City Soundtrack All the best to you!
I guess that you get plenty of tutorial requests.
I would like to add another brick in that wall :
“Say it ain’t so, joe” from Murray Head. (1975)
I already gather chords and tabs for this song. (if needed…)
It sounds to me an interresting peace of music for Guitar.
Whishing you a nice and musical summer.
Regards
Tumtak
Thank you for everything you’ve already done, it’s huge man!
Thanks a million for all your guitar tutorials! You have no idea how much I appreciate them (well, maybe you do – I can see I’m not the only one who finds your videos and website amazing ). I love the way you teach and your guitar tutorials are really helpful. Because of them I am becoming better at the guitar. I can tell you have a real passion for playing and just wanted to say how much you’re helping me play and develop the same passion.
Again, thank you.
Excellent work, I really enjoy your site and appreciate the start it gives to us beginners. Could you do Harvest Moon, a Neil Yound song? Fairly straight forward and I think it would be great for us newbies.
Thank you so much for your videos, they are awesome. I have tried so many other sites and can’t get the picking part because they don’t really show you they just play it. Your videos are very helpful and I will keep using them. You should do more Gospel songs for us Christians Please. Keep up the good work, your videos are so easy to follow and I have almost got Amazing Grace down, again Thank you so much and God bless.
OK I just left you a message but forgot to tell ya something. I love your guitar, I’m using just a cheap guitar right now but I’m hoping to get my old guitar restored so I can play on it. I have a 1935 Royal Crest F hole Acoustic.
Alan,
Would you consider doing either All Kinds of Roses or Roadsinger by Yusuf Islam /Cat Stevens ? I really like your interpretation of the songs you do and I’d love to have a tutorial by you for either of those songs. Just in case you were running dry on songs to do (just kidding with that)
Thanks
Rachel
and one more thing…. please gimme a few tips on how to sing and play the guitar at same time…… i am having great difficulty in it….. also how do we know which strumming pattern should be used for a particular song…..??
Hi there.
In order to sing and play fluidly at the same time you must be very familiar with the song ( lyrics, rhythm and chords).
Make sure your chord changes within the song are second nature so you can concentrate more on the vocal.
Practice singing along to the original, then playing along to the original and finally both.
Don’t try and play and sing full speed at the start, slow it down and build up the speed to that of the original (or whatever speed you want to play it at).
To decide what strum pattern is best for a particular somg, listen to other peoples covers of that song and pick one that suits you; there are no hard and fast rules unless the strumming pattern is the whole hook of the song e.g. Wonderwall by Oasis. The complexity of the pattern for most songs depends on your personal taste and your own capability.
I hope some of this has helps you.
Best wishes.
Alan.
HI bro,
I’m very thrilled to come across your site. And I am grateful to god to find a person like you!!
Well can u plz help wid my critical question-
I’ve been playin guitar for 7 years now. Now I feel i need theory coz i’m very much interested in music composing. In another 5 years i would want to see myself as a music directer ;p. Well my choice of music is soft rock, rock, alternative/ progressive with some indian classical.
Now i want to learn guitar on a professional level. Is doing rock school guitar a cool idea? (now i hear ppl say it is way easier n if u want a sound theory u need to do trinity guide hall).
Can you please suggest me something cool n nice
thank you
Hi
My son teaches Trinity and Rockschool and his preference is Rockschool due to the scales being present in the books. The new Trinity is good in that it utilises real songs; however if you are teaching yourself via the books and videos etc. you might want to try both
Hi alex.
The clapping sound is achieved by palm muting the strings. On some of the downstrokes I cover all six strings with the edge or palm of my hand a fraction of a second before I run the pick across them. I find it easier if I completely open the rest of my hand (other than where I am holding the pick) this gives the best chance of covering all the strings. The trick is in the timing; it takes a little practise – it took me about three weeks of 10 mins a day to get it clear and chrisp so don’t be put off.
I hope this helps.
Cheers.
Alan
Hi, I’m Víctor, I have 22 years old and I am from Punta Arenas, southest city of Chile, southest country of South America. I learned too much with your tutorials, so thank you very much for your work. Best wishes for you
Hello Alan,
I’ve just discovered your website and made a small donation via PayPal . You are
Greatly appreciated by me. Thanks so much for your time.
I’m having trouble subscribing to your site on my iPad 3. Any suggestions ?
Love the Pink Floyd lessons by the way.
Hi Pete and thank you for your kind donation, much appreciated. I am sorry but I have never used an iPad (do you mean subscription to my YouTube channel?). More Pink Floyd on the way; one of my all time favourite bands
Just to let you know your website is amazing specially for an amateur guitarist who just started playing guitar. I love how you played “Is there anybody out there” and other Pink Floyd songs. I was wondering if you can do a lesson of HIGH HOPES.
Thanks.
I didnt see a email addy, but I was wondering if you could help me with the finger picking of this song. Someone made a video, but his finger picking confuses me and I cant pick up on it like how I pick up on your videos…any chance you could cover this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PaZj8hxEWA8
Heeeyyy! This website is awesome and your tutorials are very helpful! I was wondering if you would make a tutorial and song sheets for “The Scientist” by Coldplay? It is an amazing song but I cant find any good tutorials for it…
hi dear

shukri
I really appreciate your approach!
I was able to follow along, and learned the basics fairly quickly.
My speed is hampered by my ability, not your lesson!
But, I am making slow progress!
Keep up the great work!
Greetings from Bangladesh. Thank you for making such wonderful tutorials, and even more thanks for making them publicly available for free! I luckily stumbled upon your channel by search for “Rain Drops Keep Falling” tutorial. It was brilliant.
I am sure you are flooded with different song requests every day. I would just like to request you to take a look at the Richard Marx’s “Right Here Waiting” song (acoustic version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq8gIQ41wgA). I am trying to figure out the strumming pattern. Will be great help if you can make a tutorial at some time near future.
I’ve been a member of Next Level Guitar and followed sites such as Justinguitar.com, Your Guitar Sage, guitaronline.ca, etc… and I wanted to say your site surpasses them in terms of easy to find and follow content, excellent instructional videos and links to a wealth of information.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated and keep up the good work
Perhaps a request link might help and if you’re going to take tutorial or lesson requests, how about “Crazy little thing called love” -queen, or “wheat Kings” – Tragically Hip, or one I’d really like to learn “Smoke a little Smoke” – Eric Church
Hey Alan…Just discovered your site and absolutely love it! I was wondering what model Takamine guitar you are playing on in your videos. Also…still trying to find a descent video/tutorial of Cat Steven’s “The Wind”…maybe a future lesson request?
Great job on the tutorials and on the website, too.
I just needed to thank u for doing all this stuff, for free.
It’s just great to learn songs with your videos, u’ve got all the different aspects covered. Great to watch and to learn, everything in the right place ( did i mention it’s great to learn ; ) ).
U set a standard with those videos of yours, u really do.
Hi Alan
Just wanted to thank you, like everybody else, your lessons are great and a big help,
I really get a lot from them. It’s so often hard to figure out how to strum a song…or even how to play it right, but your Videos are easy to follow and straight forward.
I also like the fact, that you make them your own version, and not trying to make them like the original one.
The whole pleasure of listen to a cover of a song,is the different way people interpret the song, and not trying to let it sound just like the “original” one.
Do you do request…and if so..do I put them here?
Many Thanks
Randi
Hi Alan. I love the idea of actually seeing the notes being displayed as you play; this ideas will greatly assist any sudent not only learning new chords but also playing new songs as well. Also the Strumming patterns displayed in sink is very nice. I will recommend your site to all my friends and realitives. Thanks so much for your great tutorials.
I have about 30 nephews that would like to learn Electric Rock Guitar. Do you know of any sites with these visual aids (strum patterns displayed in time and chord diagrams displayed as the chords change)?
I would make my nephews a few Electric Rock videos if I new what software program is used to accomplish this. Thanks again. Jerry
Hi Jerry, thanks for your feedback.
I create the graphics for the videos in Adobe Photoshop then add them a frame at a time to the raw footage using Adobe Premiere Elements 7. A foreign channel called Cifra Club are the only YouTube channel I know who present their videos in a similar way to mine and provide electric guitar tutorials, however; they don’t speak english so their videos can be a little confusing though their visuals can prove useful
I must say that this is the best guitar site i ever seen, especially for an beginner like me.
Because of you i`ve learend 2 songs now (not perfect though ), but i can play them.
Everything is putting up together perfectly….showing the strumming and using the chords it`s perfect, i want to thank you for sharing it, to all guitar players.
I hope your site will exist for a very long time, its very helpfull to me.
I like to ask voor an request song, i hope you will do it, if not…its not a problem, i like your site anyway and your a great singer and guitar player.
My song request is:
Canned Heat – Going up country
CCR: Midnight special.
So Alan keep up the good work, your amazing teacher
Ciao Alan complimenti davvero per il tuo lavoro!!! e’ una base molto bella per chi si vuole avvicinare a brani che vorrebbe imparare a suonare!
ciao
Renato
Hi Alan your work is soo good! It’s a simply and beautiful start for beginner that want to learn news and famous song!
Regards
Renato
hi Alan,
my name is Claudio, from Rome, Italy. I like the way how you teach guitar. I’ve learnt a lot from you. it’s a pleasure visiting your web site.
I’m not a very goog guitar player, but I’m improving…thanks to you.
claudio
PS,,,,Alan, I’d like to ask you a couple of songs : “tequila sunrise”, eagles and
“for everyman”, Jackson browne
I have been watching your videos for about a month now, and I just wanted to say thank you for all your efforts. In fact, I will be sending you a donation shortly.
I also had a question regarding your videos. What software do you use to get your effects, especially the strokes and lead notes. I am looking at making jazz chants for my English students here in Japan, and I wanted to do something like a karaoke effect, but more like the guitar strokes you have, rather than a slow moving color covering the lyrics as the song goes along.
Hi Calvin and thank you for your positive feedback. I do not use any special software to create the videos. I create the graphics – arrows, chords etc. in Adobe Photoshop and then bring them together with the raw footage (sometimes a frame at a time) using Adobe Premiere Elements 7. Its a labourious process but very accurate.
Thanks again for your support.
Alan
Hi Alan
I have used many guitar sites on the web, especially on You Tube… I find your by far the clearest and easiest to understand. Keep up the good work!
Do you like James Taylor? I would love to see some of his songs on your site. The intro to “Fire & Rain” would be great!
Just stumbled onto your Guitar site and checked out a few Vids. Great job from what I have seen so far. Been playing since I been 20 and now I am 61 and I do not come anywhere close to how you play. My problem is that I have no rhythm. What I mean by that is that I don’t hear anything in my head like others do. I have to learn note for note. Even to play a simple song I have to listen to it before I can play it and it never sounds the same. And I could never get anyone to help me over the years. So I have to learn everything one string at a time. And all I know is basic chords. I would like to say a lot more but it would take up to much time. But I would like to make a request seeing that you said that you would consider doing certain songs. There is a song that I can’t get anyone to play as it is originally done. There are those who made a stab at it and never get it right and that is Catch The Wind By Donovan. Once person came close but still not right. The strumming with the picking is absolutely awesome. He also has other great songs which I know that you will enjoy and maybe even do more. I know that you are swamped with requests , but this one could be a little changeling. With your great voice you would sound absolutely great doing Donovan’s songs. So check him out and see what you think. And thanks for all the effort you have already put in. You are a great teacher. Ed
Hi Ed
Thank you for your kind words and your support. Catch The Wind is a great track and I will check it out for suitability in the future. Best wishes with your playing.
Alan
Alan,
I just had to say Thanks. Out of all the websites I’ve looked at your’s is the most concise, helpful and easy to follow by far. You have many great songs that will keep me busy for a long time. You’re generosity makes the world a better place, I’ll put some links to your website on my personal website.
Hallelujah!!
Hi Al, I just hope you do more fingerstyle guitar, am not so good at fingerstyle and hope to supplement my practice with fingerstyle….I Loved the Jeff Buckley cover………Have a lovely day…
Ton site est vraiement bien, je te connaissais sur youtube ou j’apprécie ton travail, grace à toi je peux enfin me faire un répertoir des chansons que j’aime. Merci de nous faire profiter de ton talent.
With google translet.
Your site is vraiement Well, I knew you on youtube or I appreciate your work, thanks to you I can finally make a set of songs that I like. Thank you for giving us the benefit of your talent.
thankyou, thankyou, thank you, thank you,THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU !!! this webiste is AWESOME ! your lessons are AWESOME , and YOU ROCK! Thank you soooo much!!!
Hi Alan,
my name’s Ciro, and I’m Italian, from Naples. Your video are really helping me to learn a lot of songs I like, mostly those one by Paul Welle, who I like very much.
I’ve seen that you have produced lots of videos, that I’m going through, finding out that there are plenty of my favourite songs.
I want to thank you for your playing competence and your help,
Keep on this way!
Ciro
Hi Im christian …..phew I m really thankful with your video guitar lessons because of those video i can now get rid of my favorite songs that is used to be pluck
I spent a lot of time on your web-site yesterday; I`ve been there for the first time and have been surprised about your phantastic work, you`ve done for us all. Thank you very much therefore.
I downloaded several of your tutorials in order to use them off-line on my calculator as well as the corresponding song-sheets for my daily guitar-exercise. Unfortunately there haven`t been such a song-sheet for the song Daydream of the Band Lovin`Spoonful. Will you uploaad this shortly ?
As a beginner in playing guitar I was very lucky to find one of my favorite songs A horse with no name by the Band America and the fact, that this song can be played with only two chord. My next song will be John Lennons Working class hero, which has only three chord and after that Daydream by Lovin`Spoonful which consists of only four chords. And in order to play this wonderful song, I need a song-sheet, you know ?!
Du bist ein Schatz, Alan ! which means in your language: You are an angel, Alan !
Thank you very much for your immediate reaction.
By the way; the song-sheet for that fantastic song Nights in white satin by the Moody Blues is missing as well. I`ve seen them live in Frankfurt am Main back in 1978. It was a great concert with many bonus songs. It`s my aim to play this wonderful music by myself on my own guitar one day. I`m working on it !
Hi Alan,
I was looking through YouTube for a good chord rendition of “in my life” by the Beatles and came upon your lesson… Your tab overlays on the video really help with the chord sequencing so thanks for that. I recently started back into guitar after a long hiatus of 2 decades but, like riding a bicycle, you never really forget how…or the joy it brings. This is a great web site BTW so I’m sure I’ll be wandering around it now and again for your tips and tricks… thanks again,
Marc
This is my first time being on your site. I’m beginner to learn Guitar. and i watched your Video on YouTube. It’s amazing. Thanks for providing this tutorials.
You have the best guitar lessons on YouTube. The chord diagrams really help when trying to play along. Heck, you even have a few tunes by Travis, my new favorite band. Keep up the good work and look forward to any new videos.
Hay Allan ,I’ve been watching your vidios I’m inpresed ,I like the way you play the hole song in the beginning and slow at the end ,I think folks can learn a lot from that.I was wondering if you can play more country songs to ,Till next time stay safe
Hey Allan! I just started playing guitar 2 months ago (after my divorce…) and your tutorials are a massive help for me!!! Thanx a lot!!! My first complete song to learn was “Wounderful tonight” …:-) I would be extremly happy if I would find “Let her go” from the Passengers soon…;-) I have to learn this song…
Hi Alan, love your YouTube channel, fantastic selection of songs. I was wondering if you might share how you strum, from the videos it looks as though you just use your index finger! Really hate using a plectrum but not sure of best way to do it using fingers. Thanks for all your hard work.
Hi Brian, I use a pick for most of my strumming, I hold it mostly in between my thumb, index and middle fingers but this does change to just my thumb and index finger occasionally for a few songs. It really depends on what you feel comfortable with. The Doors – People Are Strange video I created is the only one I strum without a pick, because it combined finger picking.
I hope this helps.
Cheers.
Alan

I was just browsing your site. It’s really cool.
I’m helping to put a guitar website together and was wondering if I could get a link from your site?
It’s a pretty new site and we’re working hard to put some good content on there. I was hoping you could help us out by linking to us.
the website is http://www.onlineguitarbooks.com
If not, that’s cool!
We can put a link back to your site too.

Hi there
I checked out your site and what you are doing looks really positive.
The explanations of chord theory etc. are well pitched for beginners and the site layout looks professional.
My site is also new (I created it in October this year) so I could also do with a bit of help marketing it.
Consequently I would be more than happy to link to you and would appreciate a link in return.

Your Welcome.
Best wishes.
Alan.

Alan.

Alan.
Hi Alan,
Great website, I have recommended it to quite a few people I know that are trying to learn guitar. Any chance of anything by I am Kloot?

Hiya Alan,.. Just wanted to say,ive been playing guitar for a fair few years now and have used the net for tabs and video lessons for around 5 years now. Aaron

Thanks for your lovely comment, its much appreciated.
All the best with your playing.
Alan.
Hi Alan,
A question for you, if you don’t mind. I am struggling using fingers 1,2,3 for the open A chord – not enough room to get all of them close enough to the fret. If I switch to 2,3,4 am I going to regret it later?
Thanks,
Peter
Hi Michael.

Take care!
Paula
Hi.
I will check it out
do u have beginner courses?..ive been playing 8 months do u have any advice on how to improve
Alan

I know its a bit low brow for you but if you ever had a few moments i am sure you would make a lot of people very happy.

Hi Alan,
I’am a begginer and your site is very helpful. Can you add your site if there are songs as easy as ‘Songbird’ and -I know it’s not easy- ‘Well Respected Man’ (Kinks). Thanks for your help.
You’re welcome, I will check it out
So, some friends and I get together and jam.
Thanks man. Stay cool.
It sounds like a real laugh, and a great way to improve.
Best wishes and thanks.
Alan.

Your website has made it very easy for me to play songs which I have not been able to play on my own. I love the idea of actually seeing the notes being displayed as you play; this ideas has greatly assisted me in not only learning new chords but also playing new songs as well. Hi Alan,
This is Edwin from Africa(Uganda), am a 24 yr old beginner guitar player.
Thanks for your kind words, I will check out your request
Hi Karen
Check your email, I hope it helps.
Cheers.
Alan.
Slt Alan,
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to make a nice comment.
Best wishes.
Alan

Alan,
I was fortunate enough to come across your Youtube tutorial for ” Sing ” by Travis last week.
David
Thank you David for your positive feedback, I will check out those songs when I get a spare minute.
Cheers.
Alan
its good tutorial,
Thank you
Hi Alan,
I guess that you get plenty of tutorial requests.
I would like to add another brick in that wall :
“Say it ain’t so, joe” from Murray Head. (1975)
I already gather chords and tabs for this song. (if needed…)
It sounds to me an interresting peace of music for Guitar.
Whishing you a nice and musical summer.

Tumtak

Cheers mate, I appreciate your support and will check it out

Thanks a million for all your guitar tutorials! You have no idea how much I appreciate them (well, maybe you do – I can see I’m not the only one who finds your videos and website amazing ). I love the way you teach and your guitar tutorials are really helpful. Because of them I am becoming better at the guitar. I can tell you have a real passion for playing and just wanted to say how much you’re helping me play and develop the same passion.
Again, thank you.
Hi Jen, you are right; it is a passion. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
All the best, Alan
Excellent work, I really enjoy your site and appreciate the start it gives to us beginners. Could you do Harvest Moon, a Neil Yound song? Fairly straight forward and I think it would be great for us newbies.
Thank you,
Hi Randall, I will check it out
Another song that I think would be great for beginners is “Play me” by Neil Diamond. Please consider it. Thanks Alan your site is fantastic.

Your videos are very helpful and I will keep using them. You should do more Gospel songs for us Christians Please. Keep up the good work, your videos are so easy to follow and I have almost got Amazing Grace down, again Thank you so much and God bless.
Thank you for your support, you are welcome; I will look into your request
OK I just left you a message but forgot to tell ya something. I love your guitar, I’m using just a cheap guitar right now but I’m hoping to get my old guitar restored so I can play on it. I have a 1935 Royal Crest F hole Acoustic.
Hi Joy, it sound like a collectors item
Alan,
Just in case you were running dry on songs to do (just kidding with that)
Would you consider doing either All Kinds of Roses or Roadsinger by Yusuf Islam /Cat Stevens ? I really like your interpretation of the songs you do and I’d love to have a tutorial by you for either of those songs.
Thanks
Rachel
Hi Rachel, I will check out your requests
and one more thing…. please gimme a few tips on how to sing and play the guitar at same time…… i am having great difficulty in it….. also how do we know which strumming pattern should be used for a particular song…..??
Alan.
thank you
You are welcome Tony
HI bro,
I’m very thrilled to come across your site.
The new Trinity is good in that it utilises real songs; however if you are teaching yourself via the books and videos etc. you might want to try both
How do I get the clapping noise that you have in this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qAGRM1si8pw
Cheers.
Alan
“Leader of the band (picking)” please

But, I am making slow progress!
Keep up the great work!
Thank you Dave, your support is appreciated; all the best with your playing
Dear Alen,
Greetings from Bangladesh.
Once again thanks for all the hard work.
Hi Sajid and thank you for your support.
That Richard Marx song is on my to-do list for next year.
All the best.
Alan
Alan,
A truely fantastic site!
Thanks!
Thank you Jason for your kind words and support. I will check out your suggestions
Hi Alan,
I’m an amatorial guitarist and i found a lot of hints to improve my skills.
A great job for a wonderfull site, thank you very much from Italy
Thank you Claudio, your support is appreciated.
All the best with your playing.
Alan
Hey Alan…Just discovered your site and absolutely love it! I was wondering what model Takamine guitar you are playing on in your videos. Also…still trying to find a descent video/tutorial of Cat Steven’s “The Wind”…maybe a future lesson request?
Hi Micah.
Its a PT106. I will be creating a lesson for The Wind early next year
Great job on the tutorials and on the website, too.
All the best from Germany : )
Thank you Jonas, your support is greatly appreciated.
All the best.
Alan
Many Thanks
Randi
Hi Randi, thank you for your kind words. You can make a request in the new ***SONG REQUESTS*** section of this site.
All the best.
Alan
Your website is of great help and assistant and inspiration.

Just to say once again, thanks for creating the Everly Brothers video and great to see it done an a 12 string.
Hi Alan,
I must say that this is the best guitar site i ever seen, especially for an beginner like me.
), but i can play them.
Because of you i`ve learend 2 songs now (not perfect though
Everything is putting up together perfectly….showing the strumming and using the chords it`s perfect, i want to thank you for sharing it, to all guitar players.

I’m not a very goog guitar player, but I’m improving…thanks to you.
claudio
PS,,,,Alan, I’d like to ask you a couple of songs : “tequila sunrise”, eagles and

bonjour,
je suis francais ,et grace à vous et vos vidéos , j’apprend à jouer de la guitare !merci beaucoup.
hi,
i’m french and with your help and yours videos, i try to learn to play guitar.
thanks a lot.
Hi Alain
Thank you, I hope my videos help you learn the guitar.
Best wishes
Hi Alan,
I have been watching your videos for about a month now, and I just wanted to say thank you for all your efforts.
Thanks again,
Calvin
Hi Calvin and thank you for your positive feedback. I do not use any special software to create the videos. I create the graphics – arrows, chords etc. in Adobe Photoshop and then bring them together with the raw footage (sometimes a frame at a time) using Adobe Premiere Elements 7. Its a labourious process but very accurate.
Thanks again for your support.
Alan
Hello Alan,
Wonderful tonight is very useful for me.
Now I can accompany my wife’s voice as a professional!
Sounds good. Thank you.
Vladimir
Hi Vladimir
I am glad you found my video useful.
Best wishes for you and your wife
Hi Alan
I have used many guitar sites on the web, especially on You Tube… I find your by far the clearest and easiest to understand. Keep up the good work!
Do you like James Taylor? I would love to see some of his songs on your site. The intro to “Fire & Rain” would be great!
Hi David, thank you for your kind words of support. I will check out your request
Hello Alan
Alan

Good evening Alan,
I spent a lot of time on your web-site yesterday; I`ve been there for the first time and have been surprised about your phantastic work, you`ve done for us all.
Kind regard from Germany

Hi Helga
I have just posted it for you
Du bist ein Schatz, Alan ! which means in your language: You are an angel, Alan !
Hello, congratulations for the site, is too good,I loved it,I am a beginner on the gutiar.
thanks.
You are welcome Goretti
Oh,Alan thanks…
Hi Alan,
I was looking through YouTube for a good chord rendition of “in my life” by the Beatles and came upon your lesson… Your tab overlays on the video really help with the chord sequencing so thanks for that. I recently started back into guitar after a long hiatus of 2 decades but, like riding a bicycle, you never really forget how…or the joy it brings. This is a great web site BTW so I’m sure I’ll be wandering around it now and again for your tips and tricks… thanks again,
Marc
Thank you Marc, I appreciate your positive feedback and support.
All the best.

You have the best guitar lessons on YouTube. The chord diagrams really help when trying to play along. Heck, you even have a few tunes by Travis, my new favorite band. Keep up the good work and look forward to any new videos.

Hello!!! My name is Camila, I from Brazil.
I ‘d like to play the song “Breathe” by “Fath Hill”.
Thanks!
Cheers.
Alan
